I have a real soft spot for Ghanaian boxers but I always liked Ike the most. He was the champ and he was "big brothering" all of his challengers in style when I was boxing as a young lad. Four close decision losses, two of which I know he should have won. He was always in shape, fought the best and always put on a great show. Massive respect to the champ.

Espana had just beaten Meldrick Taylor and looked to be on the verge of a big fight with ODLH or Felix Trinidad, and Ile came out of nowhere and took him out. It was a damn good fight, too.
Ike Bazooka was a great confident boxer who never liked clinching. I always greet him with much respect anytime I see him around Bukom. He's a nice guy always smiling
His record shows he lost 4 times by decision……in my eyes, all of them were robbery especially against Dela Hoya. Ike is underrated.
Only flaw was poor head and lateral movement.

I never heard of Ike Quarte before this video.But having seen him,I can only conclude that he is a competent world champion somewhat reminiscent of Sugar Ray Leonard when he gets an opponent in trouble.He has fast hands, and he picks his punches very well,while paying attention to his defence.Lovely video,satisfyingly enjoyable.

Ike was one of my favorites to watch. You always new there was going to show. He had that high gaurd and always came forward. He was like watching a natural fighter if that makes sense. Lol
