Do you happen to know if there is a scholarly resource that:
1) Shows every time the GNT references the LXX
2) Shows every time a book of the lxx references another book in the lxx?
Thanks for pointing out this resource! I will definitely pick it up at some point
There are not enough years left to me to become a true scholar in anything, and my memory is not as good as it once was anyway. So I depend on others, but I can recognize good scholarship. which is why I appreciate this channel. But you said this "show(s) how all of this works and why this ultimately makes the Bible more, not less trustworthy," and I don't have to tell you many who study the Bible closely completely disagree with this idea. Don't invoke Dunning-Kruger here JM, you know there are oodles of scholars that look at these ideas and see an ancient religion evolving into what Christianity is today, not Christianity triumphant.
I see this as confirming religion is made by men. Too many things that don't line up, too many glitches in the source material and stories. Too much to gloss over and ignore.
Nice work JM! This episode took me back to my undergrad days studying the Synoptic Gospels. Aland’s synopsis also comes in an English only version, which is what I used. Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and showing this to us!
As JM will know the NA and UBS text is identical, although the punctuation varies. The former has a more detailed critical apparatus. It looks like the newer edition of the Synopsis has the same critical apparatus as the older edition. The German Bible Society website seems to be selling the older edition.
Looks interesting. Some aspects of the layout, particularly the printing parallel passages side by side, remind me of the approach taken in one of the books in my library – Christ Chronological, published by Holman and using the CSB.
Thanks for mentioning Wesley Huff, as I have been following him here in Canada. I like his approach, and hope Apologetics Canada begins to introduce subject matter that’s more in debt like your channel offers! I really appreciate the resources you discuss on this channel, along with the wonderful discussions with accredited knowledgeable Biblical Scholars!
I have been trying to source out quality biblical resources, along with an OT that has both Hebrew and English, now I have some great possibilities. It was great to hear you introducing a bilingual NT…the timing it perfect for me!
Thank you greatly! I dearly hope this channel/ministry increases exponentially, as you offer quality content and have discussions with highly knowledgeable guests. There are so many channels that simply regurgitate the same old topics, and it’s very superficial, rather than offering deep insight into biblical topics.
Many blessings to you and your love ones and those within this wonderful ministry!❤xx
I was recommended dr Michael Heiser as the new testament version of disciple dojo
Do you know of any resources that can help make sense of alleged gospel discrepancies?
Cool resource, I have enjoyed using it.
Absolutely love this resource. I got it a while ago and it is incredibly helpful.
Sweet hat
Man, Bible study aids sure are expensive! Thankfully I've had good success with used book stores and thrift stores here in the Twin Cities.
I have that
